Aerea: Delivering Broadband-on-the-Go
Aerea will allow you to stay fully connected, even when a WiFi hotspot isn't available. With aerea mobile WiMAX technology, you'll have on-the-go broadband internet and access to data-intensive applications, like online multimedia, video downloads, mobile TV, and streaming media.
A WiMAX chip embedded into laptops and mobile devices will extend your connected experience beyond WiFi. Initially customers will need a USB dongle or a desktop modem to connect their laptops, and in a later stage, other mobile devices to connect to the Worldmax WiMAX Network.
Intel plans to begin delivering integrated mobile WiMAX in the U.S. in 2009. These embedded WiMAX solutions for Centrino 2 processor technology-based laptops and a variety of other mobile devices, will support the promise of cost effective, high speed "broadband on the go".
By integrating WiFi and WiMAX solutions into an affordable combo module, Intel will provide revolutionary advancements in wireless mobile technology for the future of laptops, ultra-mobile PCs (UMPCs), and a wide range of consumer devices.
